Intellectual honesty

I had a question in my previous post. The question is

Finally why do people give expert opinions when they lack the indepth knowledge?

Pegasus even chimed in that it is very basic nature of Indians! I wish it turns out to be false 🙂
Every one should have intellectual honesty in them. You exhibit intellectual honesty when you

Refuse to pretend you’re an expert when you’re not.

Readily admitting your mistakes.

Honesty commands respect, I want every body to have intellectual honesty which is required for result oriented dialogue.

    Hiren. Remember one more quote.

“Never argue with a fool, people might not know the difference”

Coming back to internet, lot of anonymous users leave a very obscene comments. That irks me a lot.

Interesting thing about opinions. The great mystics Osho and Krishnamurthy said “Only fools give opinions” but that was in a different context. They not only give opinions without indepth knowledge but defend it with full zest and not let the guy with the indepth knowledge speak. All this intellecual honesty commes out better in internet forums where you cannot outshout the other party and you can substantiate your views with specific(indepth) examples clearly.
